Enter the Kid Book Battle, where stories leap off the page! You’ll spin to reveal your character, sidekick, setting, and prop — then illustrate a book spread that tells a visual story in your unique style. Each round challenges you to think like an illustrator, exploring charm, emotion, and atmosphere in your work. You’ll have live spin sessions, community galleries, and a chance to showcase your creativity as you bring kid book spreads to life..

Illustrate It Battles is your chance to take your artistry to the next level — with live spins, creative prompts, and exciting marketplace-inspired challenges. Across a series of themed battle rounds, you’ll create fresh portfolio pieces designed to grab attention and showcase your versatility.

Duration: 6 weeks, 4 rounds & shortlisted artists go to a public vote!

On the final round, a selection of artworks will be presented for public vote

Terms & conditions

Workshop dates: This workshop starts on Mon Nov 9th 2026, and runs for 6 weeks.
Delivery: This workshop will be delivered via workbooks (by email), plus LIVE Zooms, where we spin the wheels to determine the weekly briefs. There will be replays and a Discord group too.
Eligibility: Open to illustrators aged 18+ worldwide.
Original Work: All artwork must be new, original, and created specifically for the Battles.
Submission Requirements: Participants must complete and submit their response to the weekly Battle briefs to be considered for the shortlist and public vote on the final round. A gallery will be set up on Discord and Artists will upload their weekly entry to this gallery.
Deadlines: Each weekly brief will have a set deadline of 21:00 (GMT) each Sunday. Late submissions may not be considered.
Ownership & Rights: You retain full copyright to your work. However, Illustrate It Agency may share selected pieces for promotional purposes either online or physically in future workshop materials.
Fair Play: AI-generated artwork is not allowed. All work must be human-made. If you submit AI generated art, you will be disqualified from being considered for representation.
Fee: A £59.95 entry fee applies. This fee is non-refundable, (unless we are forced to cancel the Battles).
Selection Process: Final decisions are made by the agency based on artistic style, marketability, and originality. Throughout the Battles, we will be telling you exactly what we are looking for!
Participation does not guarantee representation or feedback.
Professional Conduct: We expect all participants to engage professionally and respectfully throughout the process.

What are Battles?

Illustrate It Battles is your chance to take your artistry to the next level — with live spins, creative prompts, and exciting marketplace-inspired challenges. Across a series of 4 themed battle rounds, you’ll create fresh portfolio pieces designed to grab attention and showcase your versatility.

Is this a competition?

Not in the traditional sense. Illustrate It Battles is a structured opportunity to build a market-ready portfolio while directly showcasing your work to our agency. On the final round, a selection of artworks will be presented for public vote. After all rounds, we crown the ‘people’s choice’ Battle Champion

Can I use existing work on this workshop?

No. All work must be created specifically for Illustrate It Battles to ensure fairness and originality. Plus, we are going to spin the wheels each week to determine the brief!

Can I post work created on this workshop online?

Yes! We encourage the sharing of your progress (of your own work) on social media with our official hashtag. However, this is optional. You will get a new hashtag to use each week with the brief.

What if I miss a deadline?

There will be time at the end to catch up if you miss anything! - or you can use this time to add more sparkle to your work.

If you are shortlisted, your final deadline will need to be met, or your work won’t be able to go through to the public voting round!

Will I get feedback?

While we cannot guarantee individual feedback for every participant, we will provide feedback to selected Artists.

Unfortunately, we do not have time to provide reviews/feedback on your work before you enter our talent search - maybe we will offer portfolio reviews in the future though.
