Sabeth Elberse of Sabeth Elberse Studio is a surface pattern designer and illustrator, who lives in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Started as a graphic designer, Sabeth turned more to illustrating and making her own home decor product for her Etsy shop like wall art, tapestries, posters and original paper cut artworks. Her signature style really took off when she started to work with black paper and scissors to design her illustrations. “it’s an interesting challange to translate a theme or brief with papercuts.” Sabeth loves the unexpected and imperfect line from the paper cut outs. The pieces are then made digital and turned into vector, keeping the imperfect line as much as possible. She adds bold colors, some texture and turns her icons into a pattern, character, story, abstract or wall art. She loves to cut out flowers and birds and just shapes for a more abstract illustration.
Sabeth has a collection of beautiful illustrated vintage (childrens) books, mid century ceramics and has a love for graphical prints on fabrics and bags. She loves being in nature and watch birds, go to secondhand bookstores and visit musea.
