Seiko Sisco is a Japanese illustrator and surface pattern designer based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As the founder of the award-winning handmade brand Waku Waku Baby and a former PhD chemist, Seiko has followed a creative journey full of twists and turns that have shaped the distinctive voice in her art today. She now pours her creativity into designing art for products that bring joy to the everyday.
Having focused on fabric design over the past few years, Seiko is known for her whimsical, story-rich patterns that celebrate animals, nature, and the everyday joys of life. Her charming characters and playful designs lend themselves beautifully to a variety of industries, including puzzles, stationery, children’s décor, gifts, and more.
When she’s not creating, Seiko can be found with her studio assistant (a senior Sheltie pup), her husband, and their two spirited boys in their character-filled 120-year-old foursquare home.
